Glocal Volunteer
Sonja is one of our latest volunteers to join The Glocal. If you haven’t seen already, she is heading up our mindfulness outdoor group with co-volunteer Sabine. Sonja’s endless energy and enthusiasm for positive thinking and growth are welcomed in our Committee. Sonja grew up and went to school in Germany and England. As a professor, her father brought another culture into her life, as he had a lot to do in China. She worked in tourism in New York and lived there for several years with her husband, who was a cardiologist at Columbia University. Together, with their three children, they have worked and lived in Japan, Canada and Germany. In Berlin, she worked as a mum and managing director of the travel office of the federal executive of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD).
“I was living my first dream job!” says Sonja.
Organising events with a political background, serving and helping her customers on site, mediating in stressful situations and being a mother of three children at the same time. Her belief is that there are only solutions and no problems. This has been proven time and time again during all her stays abroad and life with children.
Living abroad as a guest, as a stranger, as a foreigner, has refined her search for meaning in life. When she began her yoga teacher training 20 years ago, she embarked on an inner journey. Today, meditating, self-coaching and reflecting are as much a part of her life as brushing her teeth every day. The search within is her daily companion in all situations.
You can find Sonja on our FOCUS group or at one of her free Mindful Popups on the lake.
